I hear marketing pitch after marketing pitch about how to lose weight and get healthy and exercise isn’t necessary, always usually encouraged but not necessary. If you think you’re going to achieve a healthy life style and a long life without exercise you have been gravely misinformed. Our bodies are designed to work, without workload they deteriorate or atrophy.

Without gravity the muscular strength required to complete movements is exponentially reduced. As a result muscle tissue that is now not in use and thus not needed begins to rapidly shrink away. The old saying, “use it or lose it” really does ring true. For every pound of muscle you lose equals about 50 less calories burned per day. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn while walking, driving, sleeping, working or reading this article. Exercise needs to be a part of your life even if that nifty diet/weight loss plan says it isn’t required.
